Janice Gunn of Abbotsford, B.C., has been named this year’s Top CKC National Obedience Competitor by the Canadian Kennel Club. With over 50 years in obedience competitions, Gunn owns the TNT Training Center and boasts 12 CKC Obedience Trial Champion titles and eight American Kennel Club titles.
Her dogs have competed at prestigious events, including the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, a milestone reflecting decades of dedication. Gunn’s passion began at age 12 when she owned her first dog. By two years old, her Dalmatian earned a score of 198 in her first Novice A competition, sparking a lifelong commitment to dog sports.
Beyond her achievements, Gunn’s award recognizes her fair competition and mentorship. She supports fellow competitors through her TNT Training Center, which provides hundreds of free dog training videos on YouTube. She also leads seminars nationwide and is active with the Dumbbell Obedience Club.
Gunn credits her success to mentors and continuous learning. “I remain receptive to learning and actively participate in seminars to gain insights from the best professionals,” she said.
