Hedge End Farm Seeks Permanent Approval for Dog Training School

by Doreen Miller

A farm in Hedge End is seeking permanent planning permission to continue operating its dog training school, which has been running on a temporary basis. The school is located at Lower Grove Farm on Upper Northam Drive and currently operates for approximately 20 hours per week, closing during the winter months due to wet weather conditions.

The farm’s application seeks to convert the field from agricultural to commercial use to allow for the ongoing operation of the dog training school. The school has been operating under temporary permission, but now aims for permanent approval. The site is well-equipped with parking for clients, toilet facilities linked to a farm cesspit, and a waste removal contract in place.

Access to the field is from Upper Northam Drive, and there is a five-mile-per-hour speed limit enforced by staff. To minimize noise impact, the field is surrounded by trees and agricultural land. Dogs are kept on leads until they enter a secure enclosure for training sessions.

No new structures are planned, with the only addition being a small tent for dog training equipment.

Eastleigh Borough Council will review the application after the consultation period ends on May 31, with a decision expected by July 4.
