On June 10, Ballerini shared a heartfelt tribute to Dibs on his 10th birthday, posting a picture of the dog wearing a birthday hat and bib. The singer, 31, wrote, “Happy 10th birthday my sweet dibby doo. You’re my best friend forever and I’m so grateful we get to celebrate double digits of life together.” She added, “You’re kicking cancer’s a–,” alongside white heart and crying emojis.
Ballerini also shared a video of Dibs enjoying the breeze during a car ride, followed by another photo of the joyful pup. The bond between Ballerini and Dibs is well-known, especially among fans of her 2015 single “Dibs,” named after the dog. In August 2024, Ballerini shared the news of Dibs’ cancer diagnosis with her followers, assuring them that he is not in pain and that the disease has not yet spread. She explained that they would be starting treatment to ensure Dibs has as many comfortable days as possible. Reflecting on the deep connection they share, Ballerini described the situation as “complex and emotional,” adding that Dibs has been a constant presence in her life for the past nine years.
