The Eau Claire City-County Health Department is reaching out to the public for assistance in locating a dog involved in a bite incident on Wednesday, May 14. The incident occurred around 7 p.m. along the Chippewa River Trail, near 1st Avenue and Grand Avenue, when a woman was bitten while running northbound.
The dog is described as medium-sized with a brown/gray coat and was wearing a harness at the time of the incident. The individual walking the dog is described as a man with curly hair, wearing a black t-shirt, gray shorts, and black shoes.
The Health Department emphasizes the importance of finding this dog to assess its health and rabies status. Without locating the animal, the victim may need to undergo a costly series of rabies vaccinations.
