A Dream Inspired by Sci-Fi and Love for the Cosmos
Connie’s dream of reaching the stars was sparked by her passion for science fiction, particularly the works of Robert Heinlein. However, due to physical challenges that grounded her astronaut dreams, Connie found comfort and solace in the cosmos through literature. She was also deeply devoted to her spirited cocker spaniel, Cassie, who was not just a pet but a constant companion through life’s highs and lows. The Perseverance Flight: A Final Celestial Journey
The Perseverance Flight, set to launch this summer, will carry over 150 capsules containing cremated remains and DNA samples into space aboard SpaceX’s SmallSat Rideshare program. Traveling at an incredible speed of 17,000 miles per hour, the Perseverance flight will orbit Earth several times before re-entering the atmosphere and eventually landing in the Pacific Ocean, where the capsules will be recovered. The families of those aboard the flight will later receive these capsules as keepsakes, preserving a tangible piece of this celestial adventure.
