Murray, a 2-year-old pup with a heart full of love, finds himself once again waiting for a new home after losing his beloved owner. The gentle giant was returned to the Second Chance Shelter in Boaz, Alabama, on May 5 after his owner, a truck driver, passed away.
From Murray’s perspective, the shelter shared a poignant message on Facebook: “There was no one that came forward to take me in, so I am back at Second Chance Shelter looking for another family to love, and for them to love me too. I am sad that I lost my best friend, but so glad I had over two years with him. He was the best. I loved him dearly.”
Murray’s journey began as a 3-month-old pup, found living alone and rescued by the shelter. He was soon adopted by his truck-driving owner, who wanted a sidekick for his travels. The bond between the two grew stronger as they traveled together, and Murray thrived as his owner’s loyal companion.
Now, back at the shelter, Murray is described as “friendly and loving,” with a playful and gentle nature. He has quickly become known as the shelter’s “gentle giant,” often seen interacting kindly with other dogs, like the shelter’s office dog, Chuppie. Teresa Camp, the office administrator, shared that Murray is “just kind and playful” and “very gentle.”
The shelter is hopeful that Murray will soon find another loving family who can offer him the same companionship and care he once shared with his late owner.
